WXW Review for Minneola Saturday Nite
« Thread Started on Jun 21, 2009, 2:27pm »

WXW was alive and kicking last night in Minneola where I was witness to one of the best shows of the year. The crowd was into this show from start to finish. I had the pleasure of sitting with Neil, Blair Russell, Babee Blue and her fiancee and son. I saw XO, Kennedy Kendrick, Shooter Storm, Nic the Destroyer, Roadblock Rex, and Eddie the Sheik from SCW. This truly put a nice feel for the show knowing a good amount of the people in attendance. I would also like to thank Kennedy for introducing himself to me. A great way to spend a Saturday Evening.

Sean Solo was doing commentary with Simon Sez at the beginning but Solo ended up doing the TV commentary on his own and I will explain as I go through this review. While I am at it, I would like to thank Sean Solo for inviting me to this show.

I was surprised to see Vale be the ring announcer and she did a fantastic job. She showed much class and was excellent as MC to this event. A young lady whom I did not catch the name sung a very good rendition of the National Anthem and let the games begin!!

Frankie Capone w/ Rico Cassonova vs. Tookie
This was a good spirited match to start the evenings festivities. Frankie was his usual good worksmen self and Tookie shows some decent promise. Tookie charged Frankie in the corner and Frankie ducked out. Frankie pins Tookie with a package.

Gus Money vs. Thunder
Gus Money has been one of my personal favorites from the up and comers. It is kind of strange to see him play the heel part but he did it much justice. A very quick pace and Gus Winning with a Frog Splash with a lot of altitude.

Wolf and Deathrow Jethro vs. Afroboy and Nick Nero
It was a very entertaining tag match that showed the crowd a few of their wrestling school students. Wolf delivers an elbow drop from the middle rope to take the victory.

O' Doyle vs. the Biff W/ Simon Sez for a shot at the TV Title contract that could be used at any event. This match was very good with O'Doyle being able to handle the attack of The Biff. These two went at it for 25 minutes with O'Doyle taking the win ad taking Simon Sez out of commission for the rest of the evening.

Jerrelle Clarke vs. Mike Cruz
This, in my opinion, was the match of the night. These two warriors went at it for over 30 minutes and the action was hot and heavy. Gus Money came out and distracted the ref and Clarke gets the win. I haven’t seen Jerrelle look this good in some time. I was very pleased to see him focused again. Keep up the good work Jerrelle!!

Intermission lasted a little longer than usual because the ring crew had to fix the ring but it gave me a chance to walk outside and talk to some friends. Kennedy and I had a good conversation but I am sure we will bust each others chops on the boards from time to time.
Chris Krono and Sulu vs. The Hatchett City Allstars for the WXW Tag Team Championship
Good to see Hatchet City on a different venue than OWA and Vintage. A decent match with Sulu rolling up Ethan for the win. I found it amusing to see Ethan taking the chops very well. He is always the good sport and I am sure he took that comment well.

Dylan Knight w/ the beautiful Candilyn taking on former WCW and WWE superstar Haku for the Hardcore Championship
*Dylan Knight has impressed me from the first time I have watched him. I was very interested to see how he would fair against a former fed wrestler.
Candilyn was handcuffed to young Afa for this match much to her displeasure. This match was kind of soft for being a hardcore but I did enjoy it thoroughly. Haku came out using his usual repertoire of maneuvers and Dylan was able to withstand the onslaught.

Candilyn be resourceful had some kind of powder to throw into Afa’s eyes and was able tp escape the handcuffs. During the altercation, the ref was being distracted by Dylan and Haku was able to grab Candilyn by the arm and was ready to strike her. Dylan saw his shot and low blowed Haku and pinned him. This was Dylan Knight’s biggest win of his career and I wish him luck on defending this title.

Kava vs. The Perfect Creation Rich Crotto for the TV Title
A decent match but the most memorable part for me was Kava’s finishing maneuver. It was, for the lack of a better term, corkscrew Samoa drop, for the victory. During this match, C.J. O’Doyle was at ringside and tried to interfere. He was able to use a chair on Kava while the referee wasn’t looking. He cashed in his TV title contract and craftily win the belt. A very interesting turn of events!!

Suga vs. Shawn Spears for the WXW Championship
A very brutal exchange and a very hard fought match. Some “down on his luck” fan and the Honorable Mayor of Minneola Yeager tried to interfere in this match.. While the ref was being distracted by all this commotion, Suga pinned Spears for the win.

After the match, it was revealed that Suga and this “down on his luck “ fan were once tag partners and Suga referred to him as Chuluta. Suga dared Chaluta to come into the ring while Chuluta was expressing that he was sorry for almost getting Suga disqualified. Chuluta enters the ring and they embrace

I apologize if I might have gotten some names wrong and please feel free to correct me. This was my very first time at WXW and I may say it was like a blast from the past. Afa does run a very good show and I liked the way everyone pitched in at the end of the night to breakdown. It was like being at a 1980”s fed show and it was a good breath of fresh air to watch this type of show. I would like to thank Afa and everyone at WXW for making me feel very welcome. I hope to be at a show in the up coming future.

PS I will have to tell Georgie that I finally made it to one of your shows!!

Excellent review, thank you so much for posting it! The person who came out with HAKU was Sulu Afi. :)
